Historically, some of the earliest recorded graves pre-date 1880, suggesting this area had been an unofficial burial ground for early European settlers. The cemetery is located on Queen Street, which was the original route to the earliest wharf, located on the Broadwater at Southport.

Monumental burial areas include: General, Infant, Jewish, Islamic, Orthodox, Vault. To arrange a funeral at this location means this  is a monumental only cemetery, with no lawn sites available and need to be accompanied by headstones and markers. A monumental grave can generally accommodate two burials; however ashes can also be interred in the grave. The family accepts the responsibility of maintaining the monument, and it is to be supplied and installed by a monumental mason according to Cemetery rules and Australian Standards.
