Lodge the Death Certificate
The hardest part is making the first call, but we guarantee once you do it is the first step to relieving the pressure. We will provide guidance and support; and obtain all the information required for the cremation service of your loved one.
If your loved one passes at home, hospice or a nursing home our response will be immediate. If they pass in a hospital with mortuary facilities or are under a coronial investigation we may need to wait until any necessary paperwork is completed for a cremation service. If you aren't in attendance we will let you know when your loved one is in our care.
After receiving all the paperwork information we will make a time to meet with you - either at home or in our office - wherever you are most comfortable. During this time we will ask for photos and gather elements for the service. During this time we will get to know your loved one and your family, and work through the details for the cremation service.
We will send you an e-invitation to forward to guests with the funeral details to relieve you of the need to make individual calls, complete all necessary paperwork, obtain a doctors or coroners permission to proceed with the cremation, and make all necessary venue bookings.
The Death Certificate is lodged by us to the Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages on the day of the service and cremation. This information is gathered from the details you provide on our arrangement form. You will need to allow approximately 3 weeks from the day of cremation for the Death Certificate to arrive. This will be sent directly to you from the Registry in the mail.
Return of Ashes
Once we have the ashes back in our office we will contact you to arrange a time to collect. It is usually a good idea if you are wanting an urn or cremation jewellery to let us know prior to your attendance, so that we have your loved ones ashes in your chosen urn.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does a full service cremation include with a funeral director
At Solace Family Funerals, a full service cremation on the Gold Coast is about far more than logistics — it’s about honouring a life with care, dignity and meaning.
Your funeral director will personally guide you through every step, including bringing your loved one into our care, preparing them respectfully, arranging the coffin, coordinating the chapel or chosen venue, organising a celebrant, music and tributes, and overseeing the cremation itself.
As a local Gold Coast funeral home, we take care of all paperwork and planning, so your family can focus on remembering, supporting one another, and celebrating a life well lived.
How much does a full service cremation cost on the Gold Coast?
The cost of a full service cremation on the Gold Coast can vary depending on the venue, personal touches, and inclusions you choose.
Most cremation services on the Gold Coast range between $4,000 and $7,000. What matters most is understanding what is included. Some funeral homes advertise lower prices but add fees later for transfers, after-hours care, or essential service items.
At Solace, we believe in clear, upfront pricing and genuine value — so families can make informed decisions without pressure or hidden surprises.
What is the difference between direct cremation and full service cremation in Gold Coast Funerals?
A direct cremation on the Gold Coast is a simple, unattended cremation without a formal funeral service. It is often chosen for its affordability and flexibility, allowing families to hold a private memorial later.
A full service cremation, however, provides the opportunity for family and friends to gather, share stories, hear music that mattered, and say goodbye together before cremation takes place.
If having that moment of togetherness feels important to you, a full service cremation offers space for reflection, gratitude and connection — something many families find deeply healing.
Can we personalise a cremation funeral service on the Gold Coast?
Absolutely.
Every life is different, and every farewell should be too. As experienced funeral directors on the Gold Coast, we work closely with families to create a service that truly reflects your loved one.
That might include:
-
Favourite songs or live music
-
A photo slideshow of treasured memories
-
Cultural or spiritual traditions
-
A themed tribute reflecting hobbies or passions
-
Family members sharing stories and eulogies
We take the time to understand who your loved one was — so the service feels authentic, meaningful and personal.
How soon after a loved one passes away can a full service cremation be held on the Gold Coast?
In Queensland, a cremation is usually held within 4 to 7 days after death, once all required documentation has been completed.
As your chosen Gold Coast funeral home, we manage all necessary paperwork and scheduling, keeping you informed throughout. If family members are travelling or special arrangements are needed, we will work with you to find the most suitable timing.
There is no rush — only thoughtful care and gentle guidance.
What locations are available for a cremation funeral service on the Gold Coast?
Full service cremations can be held in crematorium chapels, churches, outdoor venues, community halls, or even private properties across the Gold Coast.
Some families prefer a traditional chapel setting, while others choose something more relaxed and reflective of their loved one’s personality.
We can also arrange livestreaming for those unable to attend, ensuring everyone who wishes to can share in the farewell.
Do Gold Coast Funeral Directors handle all legal paperwork for cremations?
Yes. We understand how overwhelming paperwork can feel during a time of grief. As your local funeral directors on the Gold Coast, we handle:
-
Death registration
-
Medical certificates
-
Cremation permits
-
Liaison with the crematorium
-
Arranging official death certificates
Our role is to gently carry the administrative burden, so you don’t have to.
Are there pre-planning options available for full service cremation on the Gold Coast?
Yes, and many families find comfort in planning ahead. Pre-planning your cremation services on the Gold Coast allows you to record your wishes, reduce financial stress on your family, and provide clarity during an emotional time. It can also be a quiet act of love — ensuring those you care about are supported when they need it most.
