Why Choose a Private Funeral Viewing?
There are many reasons why direct cremation has gained popularity over full funeral services; for their simplicity as well as being so budget friendly. While for many this is the perfect option, for others, the absence of a funeral service can make the grieving process more difficult, as funerals can be instrumental in the healing process and the beginning of acceptance of a loved one's departure. A viewing can be the answer to the need to see their loved one at peace one last time, without the expense of a funeral service. This is a very personal decision which can be of great benefit. Sometimes a person may have been out of out of touch for a while, lived elsewhere, or their passing may have been sudden.​
A viewing can be of great benefit to allow family and friends time to say goodbye, and can be a first step in the acceptance of their passing. Our viewing room can accommodate approximately ten to fifteen family members and friends comfortably. Whilst more than ten people can attend, we recommend restricting numbers in the family room to avoid the feeling of overcrowding. Our viewings are usually held at twilight both to allow attendees to be available and to maximise the sunset through our picture windows.

Our direct cremation arrangement is as simple as a phone call. That's it. We are available 24 hours a day to help you through this emotional time and answer any other questions you may We will then give you a password to access our secure online arrangement form.
By completing the online arrangement we are able to use the information to complete all the legal paperwork on your behalf.
If your loved one passes at home, hospice or a nursing home our response will be immediate. If they pass in a hospital with mortuary facilities or are under a coronial investigation we may need to wait until any necessary paperwork is completed. If you aren't in attendance we will let you know when your loved one is in our care.
We recommend a twilight viewing for the most peaceful experience, which also allows family members to attend outside of work hours. We will create the ultimate serene environment for you to farewell your loved one in your own private way.
We will complete all the necessary paperwork and obtain a doctors or coroners permission to proceed with the cremation. We will let you know when the cremation has been scheduled so that you stay in touch with where your loved one is at all times.
The Death Certificate is lodged by us to the Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages on the day of cremation. This information is gathered from the details you provide on our arrangement form. You will need to allow approximately 3 weeks from the day of cremation for the Death Certificate to arrive. This will be sent directly to you from the Registry in the mail.
Once we have the ashes back in our office we will contact you to arrange a time to collect. It is usually a good idea if you are wanting an urn or cremation jewellery to let us know prior to your attendance, so that we have your loved ones ashes in your chosen urn.

It's important to know that a viewing does not have to involve seeing your loved one if that isn't what feels right for your family. Some families choose to keep the coffin closed, using the time to gather, remember and honour their loved one in a private setting. Others choose to have the coffin open for part or all of the gathering. There is no right or wrong choice—our role is to support your family's wishes with compassion and care.

There is no requirement to actually view your loved one. Often families like to use their time to simply spend time together farewelling their loved one in their own way. We are always available to open the coffin at any stage should you decide to view - the choice is entirely yours.
